It's no fun being alone for the holidays. In all honesty being alone after the holidays is no great shakes either. This weighs particularly heavy if you have just recently broken up with your ex.
You don't need them as some kind of crutch to get through this time of year. That's where friends and family come in as well as the belief in yourself. You want your ex back because they were special and the relationship the two of you shared was as good as it gets. This is not about rekindling the romance but more like continuing the journey together.
Therefore getting your ex back is going to require you to take the following steps:
1. Time
Yes you probably would love to have them back this holiday season. But in all likelihood that is not going to happen and the worst thing you can do is force the issue. You and your ex both need time to heal as well as time to get over each other (that's right) before you start down the path of trying to reconcile. How long? There is no set time but a month or more is a good start.
2. Keep and Build Your Power
When you are constantly begging your ex to take you back you are in effect handing over your power. That power is something we all have inside of us whether people choose to recognize it or not. Hold on to it and do everything possible to cultivate it.
How? For one, stop focusing on yourself and look to help other people. It doesn't mean you have to volunteer to work in a soup kitchen although that would not hurt. Instead you can be a genuine friend to your friends. Focus on them. The same goes with family. Become an active participant in making their holidays as good as you can. Removing the focus off self can do a world of good for you mentally and emotionally.
3. Season's Greetings
Send your ex a nice little card. Nothing mushy or pleading. Avoid messages that make it seem like you are sending an urgent dispatch from the front line. Try to think of them as a friend and compose the message in the same manner. Don't be afraid to add a little humor to the mix. And keep it short. No matter how nonchalant you attempt to make it, if you get long winded your ex will probably see right through the card and you.
